Wild Common Mezcal Ensamble

Wild Common Mezcal Ensamble

Regular price $69.00 Sale

ABV: 46% ABV

Master Distiller: Maestro Mezcalero Joel Velasco

Sourced: Mexico

Tasting Notes: The base of espadin brings an initial clean mouthfeel of green citrus, fresh herbs, and a hint of coconut. The tobala follows up with a warm butter flavor, floral notes, and is gentle and sweet on the finish.

About the product: Maestro Mezcalero Joel Velasco cooks agaves in an earthen pit, crushes them with a tahona, then ferments the agaves in pine vats with mountain stream water. Joel uses small copper pots to distill and no additives.

An ensamble, in the traditional sense, is a blend of multiple types of agaves grown locally in a specific region. Maestro Mezcalero Joel Velasco has hand-selected mature espadin and tobala agave from his community in San Luis Del Rio, Oaxaca and masterfully blended them to produce an honest expression of terroir. The base of espadin brings an initial clean mouthfeel of green citrus, fresh herbs, and a hint of coconut. The tobala follows up with a warm butter flavor, floral notes, and is gentle and sweet on the finish. Approachable but wonderfully complex, this mezcal flexes its versatility while honoring artesanal traditions.

Kings County Distillery is New York City’s oldest operating whiskey distillery, the first since Prohibition. Founded in 2010, Kings County uses New York grain and traditional distilling equipment to produce whiskey in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, just steps from the former waterfront distillery district and the legendary site of the 1860s Brooklyn Whiskey Wars. Every drop the distillery sells is made in the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
