Selected by Seelbach's & The Hood Sommelier

Age: 5-Years & 9-Months

Proof: 117.6 Proof

Bottle Count: 156 bottles

Tasting Notes: notes of cocoa, pecan, cinnamon, flaky pie crust. A rounded mouthfeel leads to a soft and complex finish, with a lingering hint of barrel spice.

This bottle is one of a handful produced from this single cask, distilled and aged in the Blue Ridge Mountains at Virginia Distillery Company. Courage & Conviction Bourbon Cask #593 was filled on June 29, 2016 and aged for five years and nine months. This unique single cask bottled at 58.8% abv showcases notes of cocoa, pecan, cinnamon, flaky pie crust. A rounded mouthfeel leads to a soft and complex finish, with a lingering hint of barrel spice.

This single cask is truly unique, combining the originating grain-forward distillate with a cask of superior quality. Bottling at cask strength allows the whiskey to be displayed in pure form, as Virginia Distillery Company does not chill filter the whisky before bottling. Color is never added, allowing the influence of the cask to be seen through natural color development. Similarly, by not using chill filtration, a richer mouthfeel is able to develop. This cask saw a low temperature of 17 degrees Fahrenheit on December 17, 2018 and a high temperature of 103 degrees Fahrenheit on July 22, 2020.

Kings County Distillery is New York City’s oldest operating whiskey distillery, the first since Prohibition. Founded in 2010, Kings County uses New York grain and traditional distilling equipment to produce whiskey in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, just steps from the former waterfront distillery district and the legendary site of the 1860s Brooklyn Whiskey Wars. Every drop the distillery sells is made in the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
